We never tire of rancunculus, do we? I've been working with some textures and digital papers I made a few years ago – some destined for prints, some for cards. A secret to better depth in the image is many layers used strategically to enhance, not just mask the image. I'll cover some tips on this in the upcoming tutorial(s).:)
(A little message to D who is in Europe at a client's. He reads my blog now so we all have to behave.)

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your comments on the last post and welcome to new followers. Really, I was so pleased that you enjoyed the botanicals. (I almost didn't post them as I thought the Latin might not be of interest but now you will get more! :) )

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your comments on the last post and welcome to new followers. Really, I was so pleased that you enjoyed the botanicals. (I almost didn't post them as I thought the Latin might not be of interest but now you will get more! :) ) I've experienced some incredible artists this week. Do visit Thorsten Becker and let him weave the tale of Wind's Little Sister.
Wishing you a beautiful week! Oh, and Spring, we are ready for you – with bells on!
Pretty and delightful G.

I love the message within the blog, I think that my husband has started taking a sneaky look at News From Italy sometimes as well! Maybe as I keep talking about all my lovely virtual friends.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, G.! I'd never seen ranunculas until I joined Flickr ... we don't have them here as cut flowers. *sob* I did see them for the first time last year as a potted plant so maybe I can find them again. I like your texture work ... very soft and subtle. xo
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine a single person who doesn't love these happy little flowers. This is perfect timing/inspiration for me, thanks--b/c I was just thinking about visiting the ranunculus fields in SoCal this month. ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful 'study" of one of my favorite flowers! The very first photo is absolutely breathtaking! Not having been exposed much to ranunculus in my younger years since they don't really grow well in Houston, I'm enjoying them even more in the last decade since they are new friends to me. I love the layering look--hope to see more!
ReplyDeleteDebi

Omigosh, that huge bunch of ranunculus (ranunculi?) on the dresser just about made me breathless with delight! Such beautiful abundance! I hardly ever see them as cut flowers (or even potted) so that such a massing of them is like discovering a treasure trove... :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for making my day brighter, dear g! And I will look forward to your tutorials.
xoxo

G, I always like whatever images you have to offer.
ReplyDeleteOne day I would love to have a garden just for cut flowers. Ranunculus are definitely on the list! And lots of them!
Have you ever seen the book, A Passion for Flowers' by Carolyne Roehm? If not you might want to check Alibris.com to see if a local library has it. The photography is phenomenal and inspiring!
I'm sorry. I meant worldcat.org. Alibris sells books, but you probably already knew that.
ReplyDeleteSharon
As always, I love your images!! Rancunculus are some of my favorites, but where ever do you find them? Are these purchased from somewhere local?
ReplyDeleteI can never find any!!!!
Seriously LOVE those buttercups! They are a bit hard to find at times but when I see them I snap them up immediately! You captured them beautifully and in lovely colors

Seems I get old, I was SURE I already commented on your photos here, Dear Georgianna ! They are so spring-like, so vivid ! I love Ranunkelchen ( as they are called here) and wish I could keep them alive inside for a longer time. They wilt so fast...
ReplyDeleteHoy tus imágenes me hicieron sentir profundamente romántica, mi mente viajó a los tiempos de "Sentido y sensibilidad", donde un hermoso ramo era más que amor.

Do you think it will be worth our time? I remember seeing pictures of it in a magazine 11 years ago and tracked it down a few years back on the internet and then when you had pics of it. I knew, I had to go. Can't wait!!
Every time I visit your blog I feel like I get to see a piece of heaven on earth. Beautiful!

Hi G, now you've got me! How I love those tissue like petals! I do hope D is having a good trip over here, the weather although chilly has been pretty kind with some sunshine at least :) Loved seeing your current reading section, that Great Dixter book looks wonderful. Can't wait for your tutorials. C x
ReplyDeleteThese are exquisite. I love the texture work you've done. I've fooled around with textures a bit - but don't have any skill at it yet. Your work is gorgeous.

Oh my g... the beauty here is overwhelming! I can't take my eyes off the first image especially... the softness of light and your arrangement of the flowers... oh so beautiful. The textures are wonderful too. I am as always so amazed and inspired by your work and tender, sweet heart!
ReplyDeleteLove you too, Dianne
I found your website after reading "Somerset Life." I am so amazed at the beauty of your images. The nest in the cherry blossom tree was lovely. I haven't been able to choose a favorite; I love them all. I have a great fondness for carousels and carousel horses so that's the first one I intend to make mine! I can't say enough about your work. You've truly brought some magic into my life. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteMy previous comment is referring to the prints in your Etsy shop. I also had to smile at the photo of the columbine. That was the name of my 5th grade camp's girls' cabin--I'd never seen it before and I remember thinking it sounded so drab--I never imagined it was so lovely.
ReplyDeleteDear Georgianna, These images are so incredibly beautiful. I especially love the last one which is simply breathtaking!! Looking forward to your tutorials :) Wini
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely amazing photos, dear G, especially the arrangement in the last one! Looking so joyful and romantic!
ReplyDeleteI would love to get a tutorial from you, too!!
Oh, I love the last photo with all the antique book covers and the flowers. So beautiful! I've been thinking of printing some of my photos and turning them into cards/postcards! :) And the first photo looks so gentle and delicate. How sweet.
ReplyDeleteThanks for being ever so thoughtful, wonderful and lovely, dear Georgianna. Much love! x
These are so beautiful Georgianna! Ranunculus is one of my favorite flowers.
ReplyDeleteOh Georgianna, these are simply gorgeous! My favourite flower. I've been in to my local florist a number times over the last few months, all for ranunculus and he can't understand my love for them! LOL.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, that first photo takes my breath away!
ReplyDeleteWonderful work! Each one is so gorgeous and made with such a beautiful eye for detail.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing and inspiring!
Warm greetings,
xxxSas
